CAPE COD BASEBALL LEAGUE

Here is baseball like it used to be. Baseball played on grass by excellent and enthusiastic ball players. But best of all, you're up close to the action so you can really enjoy the sights, sounds and smells of a fine summer day at the ballpark. This league was established in1885, making it the oldest, continuing amateur summer baseball league in the nation. About 300 ballplayers from colleges and universities across the country are recruited each year to play on the 10 teams of the league. The season runs from mid June to mid August. Each team plays a 44 game schedule. An all-star game is played in mid to late July and the play offs begin around the second week of August. Major league scouts attend many of the games and more than 150 major league players got their start in the Cape Cod League; players like Mo Vaughn, Jeff Bagwell, & Frank Thomas.
